Wellness Wednesday Week 98: Compass Pose/Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana
Improves strength in side body.
Stretches side body, arms, and legs.
Can also improve balance.
Foundation & General Alignment:
Start sitting with feet together in front of body, lift one leg up and with opposite hand grab foot to activate stretch.
Back is straight.
Upper arm is gently grabbing foot, keep elbow above head.
Shoulders are back and away from ears.
Chest is pressing forward, heart is open.
Second arm is placed on ground added support.
Leg that is on ground is bent towards body.
Other leg is straight.
Pelvic bones are pressing towards ground.
Back is curved causing chest to cave inward.
Straight leg is hyperextended.
Can be done with props to help achieve stretch.
Bent leg can also be straightened to deepen the stretch.
