Healing Journeys: Energy Healing Session - Energy Clearing

Welcome to Healing Journeys - a corner of Basmati.com where you can read about our team's real experiences with different holistic healing modalities. Trying a new type of healing can be overwhelming and you might first want to hear about someone's experience before taking the plunge. Healing Journeys will cover many different types of healing.

This particular subsection or series of Healing Journeys will be an exploration of energy healing with Basmati's Ursula Squire. Each week, I'll write about my newest experiences with energy healing. This blog will be quite candid, and often include documentation of my thoughts around a particular session. My goal is to share what I have learned and make available information for different healing modalities that you may be curious about or interested in trying.

The sessions I am doing for energy healing are working with two of the most incredible healers I've ever come across - Roger Schwartz, founder of Recover Your Heart, and Marji McDowall.

Full disclosure: I've never tried energy healing before, and I'm excited by holistic healing modalities. As a person who has anxious and OCD tendencies, but who doesn't feel that Western medicine is the right fit, I've decided to embark on this amazing journey, and I'd like to share with all of you!

Energy Clearing Session

This session was a different “type” of energy healing than I had experienced up until this point. For this session, the goal was to start clearing thought patterns, behavioral patterns, and relationship patterns that no longer serve me.

I’ve mentioned before that I have a tendency to externalize my power and my feelings of safety. Further, my anxiety seems to manifest itself twofold: first, through the physical and mental sensations, and second through the habits of anxiety. For me, I think the real obstacle to overcome is the habit of anxiety. Accordingly, my tendency to externalize my power and feelings of safety along with my habitual anxious thought patterns were the primary patterns that I wanted to clear during the session.

During the session, I meditated on the patterns I wish to reduce/eliminate. I think realizing these as addictions/patterns/issues I’d like to work on is half the battle: contextualizing something I’m struggling with into an obstacle that I can overcome. Recognizing problems is crucial to understanding and then overcoming them.

The day after the clearing session, I had a coaching session with Roger. The mix of the clearing session and the coaching session actually had a really profound impact on me. It’s never been a “surprise” to me that I externalize my power, but meditating on the different ways in which I do this helped a lot. During the clearing session, I also focused a lot on my innate power and that I should trust myself. This was also a topic in the coaching session – who is better to trust with my happiness and well-being than myself?

In the clearing session and the coaching session, there was also a lot of focus on trusting the universe/divine/higher power in our existence. Trust in it. It’s a comforting feeling.

The coaching session was a lot like some talk therapy that I have experienced. It’s inspiring. I’m a big believer in the notion of talk therapy in the first place, because I think that it forces you (in a gentle, loving way) to organize your thoughts in your mind and then communicate them outwardly. Having someone’s support is also really valuable.

The clearing session and coaching session have probably had the most concentrated effect on me throughout this healing process.  The sessions also occurred during a time of heightened anxiety and shaky sense of safety, so it was really all perfect timing (when we look more closely, it always is, isn’t it?).
