Welcome to Healing Journeys - a corner of Basmati.com where you can read about our team's real experiences with different holistic healing modalities. Trying a new type of healing can be overwhelming and you might first want to hear about someone's experience before taking the plunge. Healing Journeys will cover many different types of healing.
This particular subsection or series of Healing Journeys will be an exploration of energy healing with Basmati's Ursula Squire. Each week, I'll write about my newest experiences with energy healing. This blog will be quite candid, and often include documentation of my thoughts around a particular session. My goal is to share what I have learned and make available information for different healing modalities that you may be curious about or interested in trying.
The sessions I am doing for energy healing are working with two of the most incredible healers I've ever come across - Roger Schwartz, founder of Recover Your Heart, and Marji McDowall.
Full disclosure: I've never tried energy healing before, and I'm excited by holistic healing modalities. As a person who has anxious and OCD tendencies, but who doesn't feel that Western medicine is the right fit, I've decided to embark on this amazing journey, and I'd like to share with all of you!

GRACE RECOVERY 6.10: Karmic Ailments
June 10, 2017
Karmic ailments I’ll be focusing on for GRACE recovery.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: approaching energy healing as a newbie is almost like learning a new language – or even a new way about the world. Things are connected. Honor yourself. Focus on love. These are things I always “heard” but now I feel like I get. I’m learning how to connect with my heartspace, and I’m also learning how to communicate what that feels like.
This week’s session was about karmic ties. There were three main themes: inherited karmic aspects, karmic debt and set-up, and karmic relationship aspects. This week’s entry will focus on 1&3, since those are what I felt flowed during the session.
Inherited karmic aspects: anxiety, self criticism, cancer (although I have never had cancer, it is a common dis-ease in my family, so I have dealt with the ramifications of it frequently).
All of these “traits” or “karmic patterns” run in my family. They (especially the first two) are no doubt connected to each other. So, theoretically, if I can develop the level of self love that dissipates the self criticism, I’ll have less free-floating anxiety. By the same token, if I can master the redirection of negative thought processes and anticipation of worst case scenarios, it could lead to me being less self critical. Both of these processes would allow me to come into a truer alignment with my own being on this earth, which includes my body. I see this alignment occurring on a physical level (like feeding my body more whole foods and fresh vegetables) and on a psychosomatic level (like loving every cell in my body), which would help protect against dis-eases like cancer.
Karmic relationship aspects: control, boundaries, fear, need for control
My “addictions” – depending on others to feel safe –
Another concept: “externalizing love”
I know I start a lot of thought patterns on this blog with I had never thought about x like this before… but it’s true. I had never thought of my anxiety, externalization of love, or dependence on others to feel safe as an addiction. I mean, it totally makes sense framed that way, I just wouldn’t have made that realization nearly as soon without this program. These thought patterns I engage in are habit and they make me feel “safe” or “in control” (please, please notice the quotation marks. I’m not actually any more safe or in control, but I feel like I am, and so I end up chasing that feeling by indulging in this thought process).
