Wellness Wednesday Week 111: One Legged Inverted Staff Pose/ Eka Pada Viparita Dandasana

Benefits:

Stretches back, arms, legs, and torso.

Opens chest.

Can help prepare for shoulder balances.

Foundation & General Alignment:

Drop back or lift up into Wheel pose.

Balancing on forearms, lift one leg up.

Elbows should be shoulders width apart.

Hands can be grasping each other or flat on ground.

Head is looking forward.

Chest is pushing outward.

Tummy is toned.

Hips are lifting from ground.

Lifted leg is flexed.

Base leg is toned and lifting body.

Foot is pointing away from body.

Common Problems:

Body is “sagging” legs and arms aren’t lifting.

Elbows are too far away from head.

Modifications:

Legs do not have to be lifted.
