Natural Health, Natural Medicine: The Complete Guide to Wellness and Self-Care for Optimum Health by Andrew Weil
This book is a guide to preventive health maintenance. It also includes suggestions for treating many common ailments on your own with methods that are safe, natural, effective, and not as expensive as standard medical treatments. If you are looking to live a more conscious and healthy lifestyle, this book is a good read for you.
This book offers:
- Herbal and natural remedies from a scientific viewpoint
- A wealth of informed recommendations for curing or managing various illnesses
- Information about the effects of different herbs, vitamins, foods, prescribed medications, and homeo-therapies
At the outset of the book Dr. Weil admits that what we know of nutrition is changing and that the information in the book is based on the best available information we have today. I appreciate that comment because some information is already dated. This book is not a step-by-step guide towards everyday health; it acts more as an encyclopedia of Dr. Weil's studies and findings regarding health issues in the world/culture today. Overall, I recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn about holistic health. However I do not recommend it as an everyday guide towards your holistic health goals.
