A New Moon is a time to set our intentions for the upcoming month. By understanding the choices we make while the energies are playing out, we can ensure that our actions will provide the positive results we are looking for.
Scorpio has a reputation for being the “bad-ass” sign of the zodiac. It is represented by three symbols; Scorpion, Eagle, and Phoenix.
Being a fixed water sign, it represents feelings and emotions from the mysterious place of struggle from our past. Actions that arrive from Scorpio energy come from such a deep place within the psyche that oftentimes people don’t understand their own actions and will later ask why they even got triggered to the degree they did.
Asking questions is important because it causes us to seek wisdom (as symbolized by the eagle). When we find the truth to our struggle we lose hold of our old belief/pattern and are reborn into the phoenix.
This month’s New Moon will bring out our instinctive and emotional nature in an intense and powerful way. The strength and power of your emotions may be overwhelming and you may find yourself swinging to extremes. All of these challenges are meant to be an opportunity to learn and grow into a more self-actualized human being. For those natal charts that have planets at 26-27 degrees of fixed signs, Scorpio energy will be particularly strong but this energy will be playing out for all of us, to some degree. Mars and Pluto are the rulers of Scorpio so let’s take a look at them first.
Mars square Pluto, Mars sextile Mercury: Mars square Pluto is a forceful, volatile and dangerous aspect that demands that we use a high degree of intelligence to not create a catastrophe.
Without forethought, we may be prompted to assert aggression and dominance over others to achieve a specific goal or result. Mars is in Libra, the sign of relationships. Look for others to trigger feelings of anger or even rage. Pluto, on the personality level, is very much about increasing power and influence but on the Soul level can also show us how to resurrect ourselves with inner brilliance, magnetic power, and healing ability. A square aspect represents a challenge that needs discipline. In this situation, the solution lies in not trying to control the situation or others but to instead find a more innovative way to help you reach your goal.
New Moon quincunx Uranus and semi-sextile Saturn: One of the key themes during the month will be to adjust the way you present new or unconventional ideas or act with new-found energy and enthusiasm. Don’t assume that others will understand your inspiration. Realize the possibility that others may be seeing this as rebellious and respond with fear and resistance, which will only increase the likelihood of frustration. Instead, pause and use a more reserved way of getting your point across. (Saturn trine Uranus.) Using maturity and wisdom will make it much easier to transform into the “new” you.

Keynote: The aggressive glorification of cultural values. “Every cultural-social collectivity, sooner or later, tries to impress the value of its achievements forcibly and noisily upon all those who belong to it, as well as upon foreign onlookers.”
It isn’t hard to see how a nation’s pride can cause behavior that other nations see as aggressive. Diplomacy and self-control is always wise in avoiding miscommunication and actions that are seen as drastic, threatening or dominant. And though most of us do not have within our sphere of influence the ability to affect the actions of nations on a diplomatic level, we do have the ability to do our small part on the collective level by using our own personal power wisely.
By setting our intention to act prudently with our feelings and with consideration of others we can set the tone for a culture of love and compassion.

What are the Sabian Symbols?
The ancients divided up the sky, just like any other circle, into 360 degrees. They assigned each of the 12 constellations (star signs or zodiac signs) 30 degrees each: 12 times 30 = 360. The Sabian Symbols are a set of 360 phrases of words that correspond with each of the 360 degrees of the wheel of the zodiac, from Aries 1 to Pisces 30. Consisting from as little as 2 words (Virgo 2: ‘A Harem’) to as many as 21 words (Taurus 5: ‘A Youthful Widow, Fresh and Soul-Cleansed From Grief, Kneels at an Open Grave to Receive the Secret of Eternal Life), each one of these Symbols holds both a story and a unique energy field of its own. These images hold meaning for those degrees of the signs. Although the Symbols have their foundations in astrology, absolutely no knowledge of astrology is needed to use them.
The Sabian Symbols were given birth in San Diego, California, in 1925 by Marc Edmund Jones, a noted American astrologer and spiritualist and the gifted clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler. Jones was interested to find a set of word images to go with every degree of the zodiac. Elsie Wheeler was an extraordinary clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair for most of her life. Jones chose Elsie Wheeler as his partner in this “experiment” (as Jones called it) as she had a remarkable ability to “see” messages, images and symbols. She used this talent to help her clients, but was rather weary of the standard questions she received, such as “when will I be rich?” and “when will I meet the love of my life?” She was eager to take part as she believed that this was an opportunity to really contribute something to astrology.
