Get ready for the rare  2nd Libra Full Moon in a row on Friday, April 19! This Full Moon lands on Good Friday and comes 30 days after the last Full Moon in Libra on the Spring Equinox (March 20). Not only do we not normally have 2 Full Moons in a row in the same sign, but these Full Moons also coincide with other powerful turning points in our yearly calendar.

The interesting twist on the normally self-oriented Aries New Moon is that it forms a perfect square angle with the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn (January 5, 2019). 

It’s not every year that we get a full moon occurring simultaneously with the Sun ingressing into the sign of Aries.  I’m sure we all are aware of the effects of the full moon and how we are all naturally drawn to stare at its brilliance in the night sky.  We’ve all heard about how crazy people and things are passed off as having been stimulated by this lunar prominence.  It is surely a special time.  However, let’s look at what makes this time significant astrologically beyond just that of a full moon.

Rarely does a full moon fall twice in a row in one astrological sign as will be the case this spring! The first Libra Full Moon falls on the same day as the Spring Equinox when the Sun enters Aries on March 20, 2019.The second Libra Full Moon occurs on April 19, 2019, the last day of Aries, just 24 hours before the Sun enters Taurus. Again, Full Moons generally occur in sequential order. So, after the Libra Full Moon, generally the Scorpio Full Moon comes next.

The February 19 Full Moon—called the “Snow Moon” by Native American Indian tribes—will also be a SuperMoon because of its closer-than-normal proximity to Earth at the time the Moon reaches its full phase. The Moon reaches “perigee”—its closest point to Earth in its orbit— just hours before the Full Moon, making this the largest Full Moon SuperMoon of 2019! A SuperMoon phenomenon makes the Moon appear about 15% larger and up to 30% brighter than normal.

The New Moon in Aquarius on February 4 also corresponds with the Chinese New Year of the Pig, which runs from February 5, 2019, until next year’s New Moon in Aquarius on January 24, 2020. The Year of the Pig portends your potential to indulge in fantasy or to impose the rigors of reality on your life. Try to make this year one where you balance between the two extremes.
