It is a busy time for Capricorn, indeed, and there are no signs of slowing down either.  In fact, we just had a partial solar eclipse involving the signs of Capricorn and Cancer last week.  This week we have Mercury entering into Capricorn to join the crowd of Sun, Saturn, and Ketu.  With Mercury joining the fray it adds another dimension to the ongoing theme I’ve been discussing.  Being that we have a full solar eclipse looming in the coming weeks, I’ll

In previous articles, I have touched on the conjunction of Sun and Saturn and the possible effects that come with this conjunction.  However, I didn’t give much information on the special context as to why this is the case.  Saturn and the Sun have a special relationship.  Before I mentioned that they were mutual enemies, in regards to what in Vedic Astrology we call the natural relationships of the planets, but I didn’t get into their special familial dynamic that is revealed through their shared mythology.

Let’s say that one is on a sports team and their ultimate goal is to win a championship.  However, the current incarnation of the team just doesn’t allow for this.  Let’s say that the necessary changes to be made and the only way for this to happen is to marginalize one’s input, recognition, and utilization.  Other people need to be brought in and new strategies need to be employed which will move the needle towards the goal, but comes at this self-detriment.

As you are probably aware, we are rounding out the calendar year of 2018 at the end of December.  However, astrologically speaking, we actually see the new year as starting on the winter solstice which will be happening at the end of this week when the Sun ingresses into the sign of Capricorn.  Before we get into the indications of what the Sun’s upcoming ingress into Capricorn can bring with it, I’d like to discuss some interesting facts about Vedic Astrology’s viewpoint on years and a deeper understanding of our own calendar and how it relates to astrology. 

Astrology is simple yet subtle.  There are many websites and such online that talk about the Sun sign related to your birthdate that you may or may not relate to.  These Sun sign interpretations are just as simple as taking the qualities of the planet, in this case the Sun, and comparing and combining them with the qualities of the sign and then seeing the things that either offer confluence or opposition.  That is the simple side.  The subtle side of astrology is to determine whether or not that singular connection will present itself in the individual’s life in spades

Finally, this week we have the official end of this Mercury retrograde cycle.  Last week we had Mercury leaving Sagittarius where it was with Sun and Jupiter and bringing its distractions and disruptions.  When Mercury went retrograde into Scorpio it was the first sign of breaking up the distraction cycle that this retrogression period was all about.  Now, with it finally going direct again, we have the official end of this cycle.
