Recipe: Cranberry-Orange Digestion Tonic

Got a bad gut and need some help digesting your food? This tonic should help: It's specifically designed to work with fall bounty too, so make it before the season is over! I recommend using it whenever you feel you've eaten too much food, or have an upset stomach. That said, you can also drink it as often as you like to promote good gut health on a regular basis. Cranberries are known for aiding in digestion, lowering wrinkle-causing inflammation, and even preventing urinary tract infections.

DIY Natural Toothpaste Recipe

A few years back I switched my family from store purchased toothpaste to natural, homemade toothpaste. These days there are a lot of complicated chemical ingredients listed on the back of toothpaste tubes and containers—even many of the natural brands have them. Not to mention, the natural, safe brands seem a bit overpriced. So I thought—why not make my own? Being very choosy, I used safe, simple, natural ingredients, and now I am here to share my own natural toothpaste recipe with you!

Easy Homemade Applesauce (Unsweetened)

Make the most of apple season this fall with my easy homemade applesauce! You can enjoy this recipe on its own, with pancakes or in other main dishes. If you like baking, applesauce can also be used as a healthy vegan alternative to eggs, butter or oil. I’m a big fan of cinnamon, but feel free to get playful with different spice combinations or leave them out altogether to experience the pure apple flavor.

Well Seasoned - A Cooking With Cast Iron Series: Apple Cinnamon Acorn Pancakes

I love to make this breakfast over a nice outdoor fire in the Autumn. It is especially satisfying when I go collect and process the acorns and apples myself.

There’s a lot of controversy about the healthiness of acorns because some varieties have a high tannin content, but if you have the time, patience, and desire, the leeching process (which removes the tannins) is well worth it! The good news is acorn flour, or acorn meal, is getting easier to find in different stores. However, it is a little expensive due to the amount of work it takes to properly process the nuts.

10 Foods to Detoxify Your Body

If you’re anything like me, you probably go through phases from time to time. When I say “phases,” I mean periods of time where you crave greasy and/or sugary junk food, and cringe at the thought of eating something even remotely healthy. It’s okay; it means we’re human.
