Wellness Wednesday 121: Eagle Forward Fold
Benefits:
Strengthens legs.
Stretches shoulders.
Opens back.
Foundation & General Alignment:
Start with legs crossed while standing.
Reach sitting bones back to help with balance.
Legs are bent as if in chair position.
Foot is hooked behind standing leg.
Arms are also crossed.
Instead of body being upright, the upper body is leaning forward.
Attempt to keep upper body as straight as possible while leaning forward. Back will eventually curve.
Bring arms up off of thighs.
Tummy is pulled back towards spine.
Keep shoulders back and away from ears.
Head can be looking downward or forward.
Common Problems:
Back is more hunched.
Knees are bent over ankles.
Modifications:
Hands do not have to be crossed if balancing is an issue for you.
