Do you want long, lush locks of hair? Are you envious of other people's hair, especially people who seem to have 'perfect hair'? Well you're in luck: This article will help you obtain beautiful hair via holistic tips and tricks. If you're looking to grow out your hair, develop thicker hair, or just prevent excessive damage to your hair, look no further. There are a few DIYs thrown in to the mix too, but most of what I have to say simply involves lifestyle changes. Whether you realize it or not, your hair is impacted by a lot of things throughout the day. From the way you style it to the way you treat it, hair is sensitive. No matter the hair problems you specifically face, I can guarantee you following these tips will help produce nicer hair, in a natural way. Using these tips, you won't have to get expensive chemical-based products or procedures. Hair care doesn't have to be about spending tons of money at a fancy salon or products that promise you the world. It's about making time for your hair and treating it gently. And guess what? Your hair will sincerely thank you for it.
Start oiling your hair
It's super important to condition your hair if you want long, lush locks. Oiling your hair keeps it hydrated, it keeps it soft, and it keeps it shiny. Thing is, there are so many different oils to try out. Some oils that are great for hair include pure argan oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and jojoba oil. If you have thin hair, I personally recommend jojoba oil because it's really light and won't make your hair as greasy. Whatever you choose to use, make sure it's unrefined, cold pressed, and preferably organic. To make the effects of these oils even stronger, consider adding some essential oils into the mix, especially rosemary essential oil. It's great for stimulating circulation to the scalp—not to mention it makes your hair so soft and promotes healthy hair growth! You can also try neem oil, if essential oils aren't your thing. It's amazing at growing strong, healthy hair, especially when combined with other oils. If you'd like to try making your own DIY strengthening hair oil, just add some oil of your choice (argan, coconut, etc.), rosemary essential oil, and neem oil to a bowl. Mix the oils together and apply to your hair. It's as simple as that! You can leave this oil in your hair for a few hours, or overnight, then shampoo it out (it may take a few shampooing jobs to get it done). Or, you can oil your hair gradually. Just apply some of the mix you made to the ends of your hair every day (just a few drops though so it doesn't get oily!). This will continuously nourish your hair and is perfect for someone who has hair that doesn't tolerate oils well (like me).
Use a wooden brush
Using a wooden brush absorbs your hair’s natural oils, so when you brush your hair it distributes these oils evenly, which conditions your hair. It also reduces static and breakage. It's literally the perfect tool to growing long and healthy hair. Using a wooden brush also helps massage pressure points on your head which is great for stimulating circulation to the scalp and promoting healthy hair growth. You can choose any sort of wooden brush you like, but bamboo is a very popular option. Another option is a maple wood brush. These are also great because they're sturdier than plastic or metal ones: They won't break as easily and will last you a long time, making them the more sustainable choice.
Try hair rinses (or hair tea)
Hair rinses are so helpful when you want to grow healthy hair. Doing them frequently will really help boost the speed your hair grows and its overall health. Here are two hair rinses (or hair teas) I highly recommend trying. If you want to have a really great hair day, I recommend trying out an apple cider hair rinse. All you need is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup, fill it up with water, and then dump it over your head after shampooing and conditioning. You don't need to wash it out, just leave it in your hair. It'll leave your hair super soft, super shiny, and super healthy. You'll definitely have a good hair day after doing this! If you want to grow your hair faster, try doing a rosemary hair rinse. Just take some fresh rosemary sprigs and simmer them in a pot with some water. Then, once it cools down, just dump it over your head (preferably while standing near a sink or bath tub). It will leave your hair so soft and shiny, plus stimulate hair growth! If you'd like to try these, do them once or twice a week, or as many times as you'd like. To see real results, try picking one rinse to do and stick with it for several weeks. If you want to rapidly encourage hair growth, stick with the rosemary rinse 2 to 3 times a week for a full month. Want shinier, more vibrant hair? Go with the apple cider vinegar rinse. There are also endless possibilities in terms of DIYing your own hair rinse, so get creative!
Choose natural shampoo and conditioner
The ingredient list is the most important thing on a shampoo bottle. If you truly want beautiful hair, make sure the product you’re using doesn't have sulfates, fragrances, and a slew of other chemicals in them. Shampoo and conditioner companies are known for making it sound like their products will do everything under the sun for your hair, but remember, this is all part of marketing. If the brand doesn't have natural ingredients, particularly ones that help with hair growth, then it's more than likely not worth your time and money. If you'd like, you can even dabble in creating your own herbal shampoo and conditioner. Whatever the case, try not to shampoo and condition your hair too frequently. This will only dry it out and deplete it of its natural oils quicker. Wait 1 to 2 days to shampoo and condition your hair. Depending on how thick your hair is, you may even be able to get away with waiting 4 to 6 days. Of course, during this time, you should definitely still wash your body every day (just use a hair cap in the shower). You can also use dry shampoo to keep your hair less greasy during this process. It may sound weird at first, but practicing this, coupled with a natural shampoo and conditioner that works for you, will really help your hair!
