John Royce Holtz holds a Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law and a B.A. in English Literature from University of San Francisco and Cal Riverside, where he played varsity collegiate and semi-professional tennis. Under the pseudonym, Jacque D'Artichoke, J.D., Royce has written three books: the avant-garde, autobiographical novel that trail-blazes a new spin on persona theory, The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter, and two books of essays: Sporty Reflections of a Court Recidivist and Some Day You'll Know Me (Until Then, I'll Vent!"). D'Artichoke has recently released two  digital Pop/Rock E.P.'s on iTunes using Mac software: Moon Palace and Saturn's Ring, replete with six YouTube music videos of song's therein. Royce enjoys nature, meditation, hiking, camping, conversing, tennis, running, music, writing, coffee, and last, but not least, social justice.
