How To Align Your Chakras Through Yoga

Have you ever heard the term “find your center”? Have you ever wondered what exactly it meant to find ‘balance’ in your life? The answer can be found deep within, at the core of your innermost self. There, you will discover your energy sources and how they affect every part of your life.

When Intimacy Met Consent & Lived Authentically Ever After

On a daily basis I see the invisible power of relationship. I love being in relationship, it is the juice of the human experience. Our discovery and willingness to be in connection is a flicker of magic in the mundane of life. Intimacy makes me feel alive, and requires my utmost attention and presence. I can be intimate with nature, food, water, my ukulele, my lover, my body and breath. Recently my greatest teachings come from being Intimate with others. (*Note I do not mean Intimate solely as a sexual or sensual exploration).

10 Uses for Salt (Besides Flavoring Food)

Good quality salt can do more than flavor food. Salt is naturally antibacterial and has a plethora of uses. It has long been used for medicinal purposes, and has proved to be helpful with chores around the house. From sore throats to cleaning your silver, the uses for salt are practically endless. For all those anti-salt users out there, you may want to start reconsidering.

So what is it that salt can do for you? Here are 10 ways to get the most out of your salt.

Chakra Series: The Sacral Chakra

Much of society (and the world at large) has been struggling through first and second chakra issues for what seems like all of time. These are the “most difficult” passages for the kundalini shakti to work through in the consciousness of “lower” man, as these chakras deal with basic, primal, sexual and ancestral issues. The previous article in this series discussed the first chakra and what both an asleep and an awakened root chakra look like/act like.

The Power Of Retreat

I don’t want to “adult” right now. By that I mean I don’t want to be responsible, I don’t want to run any errands, I don’t want to show up and engage in life. What’s interesting is I don’t want to go somewhere else; I don’t want to swim with dolphins in Maui, for instance. I want to withdraw completely. In yoga, the term for withdrawal is pratyáhára.

Bus Life: Home on The Road

The boundaries seem limitless now that I have fully experienced life off of the grid. Traveling is amazing but it’s even better when home is wherever you roam. I’m not the only one who’s noticed this -- tiny homes and frugal living are becoming more and more popular as time goes on. My first tiny home was a Blue Bird School Bus.

Natural Ways To Treat & Soothe These 9 PMS Symptoms

Having a menstrual cycle is beneficial for a woman’s body.  It’s a natural process which drains the body of extra iron, prevents women from getting cardiovascular disease, and cleanses the reproductive system from certain kinds of bacteria. What’s not enjoyable is when your menstrual cycle comes with a side of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) symptoms, which are usually physically, emotionally, and mentally uncomfortable for women. Recently, I found out that there were 9 undesired PMS symptoms that women commonly acquire before their menstrual cycle. But, here’s some good news!

I Eat With My Hands – Here Are 3 Reasons Why

I eat almost everything with my hands. The few exceptions include soup and chocolate mousse, but generally, all foods are finger food to me.

It may just be because I'm Indian and it's culturally normal to eat with my hands. Also, I've never been taught by my parents to use a knife and fork, and any foray into cutlery-use was either experimental or necessitated by circumstances. Like that time I attended an etiquette course and was flabbergasted that while the instructors thought to teach me about cutlery, they failed to mention that not all cultures fit within this "norm."

Living Off The Grid: The Value of Roughing It

One doesn’t truly know the value of something until it is missing from one’s life. Going without and having to work for things brings out the true value in them. Living off of the grid, or even just spending time off of it now and then, can really have a positive impact.
