Appreciate Your Relationships Under Libra New Moon Oct 8

The Libra New Moon on October 8 is your day for love! With the Sun and Moon in the Venus-ruled sign of Libra on Monday, October 8, it’s a good time for hearts and flowers!

Focus on People in Your Present

Under the influence of the Sun in Libra until October 23, try to focus your affection on the most trustworthy, affectionate, and reliable people in your life. With loving Venus turned retrograde on Friday, October 5 for the next 40 days (moving in reverse from the perspective of Earth), you will be magnetically attracted to the people you have loved in the past. You may even romanticize the past—more than you will see the beauty in those individuals in your circle of love in the present. So, try to appreciate the loving and dependable people in your current life—and shower them with love, attention, and gratitude.

If you were born under a Venus retrograde, which occurs once every 18 months for about 40 days, the Venus retrograde period, from October 5 to November 16, is your time to shine! People will understand you and be receptive to you. Whether or not you were born with Venus retrograde, under its influence, it is best to concentrate on the people who are in your life at the present moment rather than let your mind be drawn too much into reverie about the past or project too far into the future—beyond November 16, when the Venus retrograde completes. This is an excellent time to rectify love relationships from the past, and settle comfortably into the present. You can resume your focus on future plans after the Venus retrograde completes on November 16.

Also note that loving Venus will initially be retrograde in October in the Sign of Scorpio, the sign of intense, merging relationships. This will draw you back to the most powerful deep relationships you have had in the past, be they familial, romantic, or even friends with whom you’ve had powerfully transformative connections. Venus will complete its retrograde in November under the more balanced, harmonious Sign of Libra. This means that when the dust of the retrograde settles, you will be ready to re-balance (and more consistently engage) with the people with whom you’ve had relationships based on equality, respect, and mutual understanding.

You will experience the all-encompassing energy of Scorpio-oriented relationships when the retrograde begins on October 5. The Scorpio influence continues through October 31. Then, Venus moves into Libra from October 31 until December 2. While Venus is in Libra, you will enjoy the more light-hearted, balanced, and proper relationships that are the signature of Libra energy. Venus also was in Libra prior to the retrograde, from August 6 to September 9. The hallmark of Venus in Libra energy is a striving for perfection, balance, harmony, and peace in one-on-one personal long-term relationships. Enjoy!

A Time for Transformation

Otherwise, while Venus is in Scorpio from September 9 to October 31, this is an opportunity to get to the bottom of ALL of your feelings—the good, the bad, and the ugly. This can be a powerfully transformative time, which will be fortified by the passage of the Sun through Scorpio from October 23 to November 22. Scorpio energy can be refreshing, rejuvenating, and restorative. But it does not come without a bit of struggle, and a bit of letting go of the past to emerge more clearly and purely into the future—before beginning the cycle of purification, transformation, and renewal once again.

So, take note, you will be under the influence of a mix of both Libra and Scorpio energies while Venus is retrograde, and under the Libra New Moon this month. In addition to the Sun in Libra until October 23, the Libra New Moon on October 8 coincides with the transition of communicative Mercury from diplomatic Libra to secretive-but-penetrating Scorpio on October 9. (Mercury remains in Scorpio until October 30.) Fortunately Jupiter, planet of truth, self-expression, expansion, and luck is in Scorpio too. Jupiter has been in Scorpio since October 10, 2017. Jupiter will remain in Scorpio until November 8, 2018, when the jovial planet will transition into the optimistic sign of Sagittarius until December 2019.

For now, you are living in the balance between Libra and Scorpio this month. It is a time for relationships, both harmonious and transformational. It’s a good moment to relate, relate, relate!

Take a Look!

Also, be sure to check out the night sky at the Libra New Moon on October 8, and in the days following the New Moon, as the lunar celestial body gently grows to its crescent phase. With the low light of the Moon, all stars will be clearer. But the cosmos will also provide a light show of its own. Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn will be lined up near the gradually growing light of the New Moon near the western horizon, and Mars in Aquarius will be visible closer to the eastern horizon. Venus, Mars, and Jupiter will appear brightest (in that order of brightness, with Venus being the brightest) while Mercury and Saturn will appear fainter. Venus has a whitish-blue color, while Mars appears orange-yellow, and Jupiter is white. Mercury and Saturn appear golden in color. Enjoy the show!
