Parivrtta Sukhasana / Revolved Sitting Pose
Benefits:
Massages the internal organs.
Good post for teaching the fundamentals of twists.
Stretches the muscles of the back and front torso.
Foundation & General Alignment:
Sitting bones, thighs and outer feet form the base.
Outsides of the feet press into the floor.
Pelvis is square to the front of the mat.
Belly is toned.
Spine is vertical and in line from the crown of the head to the pelvic floor.
Shoulders are parallel to floor and the hug back of body.
One hand are on the opposite knee, other hands fingertips are on the floor or wall behind pelvis.
Common problems:
Pelvis is tilting.
Pelvis is not grounded, one sitting bone is up off the ground.
One shoulder is higher than the other, or one shoulder is pulling forward.
Chin isn't in natural position, pulling towards chest.
Modifications:
If tight in the hips sit on a blanket or two.
