In the first part of this series, we discussed the physical attributes that I have found in common with many empaths that I’ve worked with.
While it’s true that no one description can encompass the vast array of individuals with energetic awareness, I feel it’s important that we look at commonalities because then we may be able to learn something about the patterns and challenges that often accompany energetically sensitive people.
By this stage of the game, I’m grateful to be able to say that I’ve utilized my intuitive abilities to assess the physical and energetic bodies of thousands of people—both on the ambulance and in my private practice.

Often times, when we ruminate on personal power, we may think of an archetypical superhero dressed up in their costume, ready to save the day.
Or perhaps we envision a famous celebrity, who seemingly has the world at their fingertips. It seems that our society has bred us to look externally at other people and things to feel a sense of power.

Babies usually enter the world head first, literally “crowning” as their final move from the fetal stage of development into the oxygen breathing world of humanhood. The Crown Chakra is found at the very top of the head and is the interface between the world of the unseen and this body. When the Crown chakra, also known as Sahasara, is fully open and activated it is seen as the Thousand-petaled Lotus and is rainbow colored, signifying that all of the lower centers are open and functioning.
The capacity to witness life from the standpoint of the “observer” is a skill that sets apart the novice from the expert, especially in terms of spiritual advancement. To the ancients, this ability is deemed a technique used to classify the beginner from the advanced human and is given the name drashta in Sanskrit – which translates as “the witness.” When one has cultivated this witnessing attitude and can maintain it through all layers of evolutionary unfoldment, this state signifies an awakened and functioning third eye center, or at least the beginning stages of such.
Sitting in the pit of the throat, supporting the thyroid and parathyroid, the larynx and the vocal chords, sits Vishuddhi Chakra. Literally translated as “Visha” = impurities/poisons and “Shuddhi” = to purify, this vital center sits as the vortex for taking in that which is sweet and that which is considered “poison” from our environment and our experiences for potential purification. I say “potential” because this possibility exists with the proper use and activation of the Vishuddhi chakra, though not all are able to harness its power for personal reward.
