The reduce-reuse-recycle philosophy of my youth evoked images of bottles, cans, and paper. My friends and I lamented the poor animals with necks caught in plastic rings from six-packs of cans. To this day, I diligently seek out recycling bins everywhere I go, from restaurants to house parties.
But what to do with my old clothes?

Foraging for violets before spring is over? I am too. Before you go picking any, make sure you can positively ID violets and know how to harvest them (both the flowers and leaves are edible). Violets do have a few lookalikes (which aren't edible), but for the most part they're easy to identify.
June is one of my favorite months. While April and May bring the promise of buds (and sometimes May gardening is plain delightful), June brings flowers: showy rhododendron, brilliant iris, scented lilac, and delicate poppies burst into bloom. Across the country temperatures begin to rise and days get longer, meaning early sunrise watering sessions or late-night tea out on the deck.
For those born under the sign of the “fish” June promises many enjoyable experiences for love, play and all things pleasurable. Be open to romantic encounters from the 1st through the 12th. Longer lasting relationships could be the result.
Children also bring beneficial experiences. Spend some quality time with the children in your life. Or, join an organization where you can make some meaningful changes in the lives of children at home or abroad.
The “water bearer” continues to be hard at work, finishing up business for the month of June. You feel energized to stay on task even though unseen challenges continue to arise. There is no point in trying to control matters which you cannot control, or which you can’t avoid. Just appreciate your own tenacity!
