4 Natural DIY Products to Replenish Beneficial Skin-Bacteria

Some may say cleanliness is next to godliness, but scientific experts are suggesting that too much cleanliness can actually wipe out the beneficial microbiome from our bodies. Beneficial microbiome are considered important bacteria that help us with our every day bodily functions. Other researchers even suggest that washing too much and over-bathing, especially using harsh antibacterial soaps, can lead to problems with the immune system. Nowadays, there are plenty of products on the market to restock that good skin bacteria. But for those of you who would rather just make your own microbiome-replenisher, I want to share 4 natural DIY products to replenish that beneficial bacteria on your skin.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Skin Spray

  • 2 tsp raw apple cider vinegar (contains probiotics)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3-4 drops lavender essential oil

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray onto skin, making sure to avoid the eye area when misting near face. You can use this on your whole body.

Coconut Kefir Body Cream

  • ¼ cup coconut kefir (contains probiotics)
  • 1 tablespoon raw organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Directions:

Mix all of the ingredients together. Apply coconut kefir cream to your face using gentle, circular motions. Leave on skin for about 30 minutes to allow your skin to absorb the good bacteria. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Bacteria Replenishing Body Scrub

  • 3-5 organic probiotic capsules (the ones you can open)
  • 1 tsp of raw organic coconut oil (contains probiotics)

Directions:

Break open the capsules in a small jar or container, and mix with oil to make a paste. Add in more oil or probiotics if necessary. Leave on skin for 15-20 minutes. Gently wash off face with lukewarm water.

Raw Coconut Water Mist

  • ¼ cup organic raw coconut water (contains probiotics)
  • ¼ cup mineral water

Directions:

Pour raw coconut water and mineral water into a 4 oz. spray bottle. Shake the spray bottle well. Spray on body and leave for 15 minutes. Wipe off gently with a wet washcloth.

If you haven’t noticed already, one of the things that all of these DIY products have in common is probiotics. Each one contains an ingredient that is loaded with probiotics, and probiotics are loaded with beneficial bacteria for your skin.

There are other ways to replenish the good bacteria on your skin such as taking a shower only once a week or even every other day if you tend to sweat a lot. But of course having your own natural, homemade bacteria- skin-replenisher is pretty awesome too. Feel free to try out one or more of these, and comment on what you think.

Be healthy the natural way because you and your body deserve it!
