Spruce Up Your Home Environment Under The Taurus New Moon

The New Moon in Taurus on May 4 will focus your mind on the material accoutrements in your physical surroundings. This is a month to make sure everything is just as you’d like it in your material world—this includes your clothing, makeup, furnishings, and even your finances. While many New Moons get you thinking about the people you’re surrounded with, or how to improve your health or general wellbeing, this New Moon will remind you that your physical surroundings matter—and exert an influence upon you.

What’s feng shui got to do with it?

The Chinese art of feng shui holds that the energy of your physical environment (the colors, conditions, and even the amount of light reflected by physical elements) is not only a reflection of your own physical body—but it exerts a powerful influence over your physical body-mind as well!

Feng Shui means “wind water,” and is intended to enhance the flow of “ch’i” or cosmic energy within and around your physical form. It is said that elements of your physical surroundings that are either worn-out, in poor condition, unkempt, or not pleasing to you actually exert an energy drain on you. Physical objects that are spatially arranged, in good condition, clean, of harmonious color and design—and pleasing to you—will actually uplift your spirits and enhance your energy field.

The New Moon in Taurus is the time to pay attention to these kinds of mundane details that have a psycho-physical impact upon you!

How To Take Advantage of the New Moon

The New Moon also coincides with a conjunction of the Moon and innovative Uranus. Even though the earth energy of the fixed sign of Taurus is the most stable of all of the 12 constellations of the zodiac wheel, the conjunction with Uranus could be temporarily destabilizing in an emotional sense, particularly in the few days leading up to the New Moon, when lunar energy is depleted and situations that are normally handle-able can feel overwhelming.

These days leading up to the New Moon also can have an obscuring quality because there is so little lunar light being shed on Planet Earth. Therefore, wait to take decisive action until after the New Moon on May 4, or better yet, wait a few days longer for the lunar light to grow to the crescent phase for greater clarity.

You will benefit most if you implement your new plans and actions after the 1st quarter phase of the Moon (May 11) and before the Full Moon (May 18). For situations that you would like to release from your life, the best time to take action is after the May 18 Full Moon, and before the next Gemini New Moon on June 3.

What does the Taurus New Moon mean for you?

This month’s New Moon also coincides with communicative Mercury, loving Venus in fiery Aries, energetic Mars in the mentally versatile sign of Gemini, and lucky Jupiter in the fire sign of Sagittarius. Consequently, you’ll have plenty of energy and agility to implement the practical plans you will come up with under the Taurus New Moon. The New Moon also coincides with an energizing Mars-Jupiter opposition on the following day, May 5. After a long late Winter-early Spring season under the shadow of Mercury Retrograde, the high-energy, achievement-oriented energy of the early May New Moon will be just what you need to upgrade to a new level in your life!

What the Taurus New Moon will mean for you:

  • If you were born when the Sun was in one of the earth signs—Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn—or if you have one of these signs as your Ascendant or Moon sign, you will feel as if you are entering a particularly productive time during the month of May. You will feel a sense of stability and accomplishment.
  • If your Sun or Moon sign, or Ascendant, is in one of the water signs— Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces—you will gain clarity under the Taurus New Moon about your direction and purpose in situations where your path may have been obscured in the past. You will feel as if there is a coherent reason for the experiences you are undergoing.
  • If your Sun or Moon sign, or Ascendant, is in one of the fire signs—Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius—you may have to make a few compromises under the Taurus New Moon. These adjustments may feel a bit unnerving at first, but will prove to be important, and necessary, refinements to your life path. These changes will help you marry your idealism with the practical realities of the situations at hand.
  • If your Sun or Moon sign, or Ascendant, is in one of the air signs—Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius—you will gain a new perspective under the Taurus New Moon. You will have a choice between agreement and disagreement, but know that Taurus is a fixed earth sign ruled by a bull: Taurus energy can be pretty steadfast and stubborn. So, you may have your greatest success this month when you defer to others—within reason!
