Mother's Day is just around the corner! If you haven't gotten her anything yet, don't worry, we've got you covered. While grand gifts are always fun to receive, we all know moms are happy just to spend time with their kids. And if you think about it, your mom’s favorite Mother's Day gift is probably a piece of art you made when you were in pre-school. While she does deserve the best – after all she's the reason you’re alive – it may not be in your budget to buy her, say, a brand new car.

Merriam Webster also defines the verb “mother” as: “to give birth to or to give rise to.”

It’s been a rough week. I found out a friend of mine committed suicide and it sent me reeling. Not only am I grieving the loss of my friend, but I’m also questioning the meaning of life, what my priorities are, how I’m spending my days, etc. The inconsequential questions, in other words.

I notice there's a tendency in me and in society to avoid the deep and dark places. We are uncomfortable with displays of depression and despair.

The other day, a friend posted on Facebook that she felt depressed and the majority of her friends said, “Are you getting help? Are you taking medication?” I'm not saying people shouldn't take meds and shouldn't seek help, but it's interesting to notice their reactions. How quickly people turned to solutions instead of saying, “I hear you,” or “Me too.”

Highlights

• The New Moon is when it occurs monthly when the sun and the moon are conjunct or together in a particular sign and I like to give people the image of the New Moon being like an empty cup ready to be filled with the incoming energy and when we add our conscious intentions to the energy that is already in play, it really kicks up what we reflect out to the world and in term the world is going to mirror it right back to us.
