Warm juices seem like a bit of an oxymoron—isn’t the point of cold-pressed juices to keep the nutrients cold? All About Plant-Based Eating: A Q&A With The Creator Of The Plant-Based Champions Summit (+ Juice Recipes!)

Do you want to eat more plants? If so, you have a lot of company. Interest in the topic spiked dramatically last year. Plant-based eating is both timeless and totally new, depending on how you look at it. Throughout time, the overwhelming majority of societies were plant-based, but in the last century unprecedented changes at the societal and agricultural levels began to make plant-based eating worthy of a fresh look.

Superfood 101: Clementines!

Clementines were accidently created by Father Clement Rodier who was planting Mediterranean mandarin seedlings that pollenated with a willow-leafed ornamental variety of C. aurantium, commonly known as Granito, in the garden of an orphanage near Oran, Algeria. The plant was brought to Florida in 1909 and taken to California in 1914 by H. S. Fawcett of the Citrus Research Center, Riverside.

Try Juicing This: Green Beans

Green beans aren’t exactly the “coolest” vegetable of the hour, but there’s more to this crispy legume than meets the eye.

Also referred to as “snap beans” or “string beans,” green beans have been gracing dinner plates for centuries. Though we don’t usually give green beans as much attention as say, kale or sprouts, they are actually incredibly high in nutrients and even have some “superfood” qualities.

The same goes for drinking fruit juices, I’ve learned; drinking juices that are primarily fruit-based does not always bode well for the digestive system. My partner and I have gotten into a lovely routine of making our own juices, and it’s become an important part of most mornings for us.

Try Juicing This: Radish

I never thought I would juice radishes…but here I am, juicing radishes.

To me, radish is like the outcast of the vegetable family. You only really use it to garnish things. It’s not like we’re making radish soup or radish slaw…We sprinkle radishes in at the end because of their super strong and bitter taste. For this reason, I knew I could only put a few radishes into my juice; I didn’t want to blow my taste buds off.

Try Juicing This: Raw Asparagus

Raw asparagus juice…is that even legal? After getting tired of my daily cucumber-apple-ginger combo, I decided to break out of my juicing shell and get a little weird…
