Amazing Sprouts Garden Adventures: Bee Bash

Tuesday, July 17, 9:30–11am Pollinators are un-bee-leavable creatures and do so much to keep our plants growing. In this program, participants will learn all about the role of bees as pollinators, visit Allen Centennial Garden’s hive, and see some pollinators up close. The Amazing Sprouts is a program for 4-5 year olds and their adult caregivers designed to expose children to the natural world through hands-on gardening activities.

This workshop will highlight different types of fruiting crops that are available right now. Class will be outdoors on field trips to sites that are growing many types of berries. Students will taste different types of berries while seeing what a mature plant looks like. We will talk about cultivating favorable growing conditions for each type of berry. Of course, we will also discuss recipes and ways to put up the harvest of berries. This session also will focus on water catchment. Students will learn how to determine what type of system would work best for your household.
