There's More Than One Way To Be Positive

Not everyone is the same kind of person. While for some, encouragement, motivation and looking at the bright side works – like Poppy in the animation movie Trolls -- for others, like Branch, the opposite is true. Too much optimism can actually make some of us complacent, overconfident and less of achievers than what we truly are. And let’s face it: we all have been subject to negative thoughts that creep up upon us as self-doubts, inferiority complexes and even a fear of losing all that we have. So what do you do with all those scary, negative thoughts?

 

The Great Drama Of Life

I asked a friend the other day how he maintains hope and faith when the whole world seems to have gone mad, and he told me he views life as a drama – there will be happy parts and sad parts and scary parts. He doesn’t expect life to be a smooth ride where nothing happens.

He also told me a particular scene that we find distasteful at the time could be pivotal to the story – in hindsight we may find certain actions were crucial.

How To Immediately Turn That Bad Day Around

No matter how happy-go-lucky you may be, bad days still happen to the best of us, but you must not let these natural occurrences get the best of you. Instead of letting life’s minor irritations make you moody, immerse yourself in some of these positive activities that will quickly turn that frown upside down! Is not the aim of most people to become happy, however one might define contentedness? A solid relationship, a meaningful vocation when possible, achievable goals, a healthy lifestyle? Perhaps loves for nature, reading, the arts, or sincere spirituality?

This elusive quest of attaining happiness can be undertaken in a variety of manners. Often, we do not allow ourselves to permanently indulge in happiness’ healthy pursuit for our well-being. Yet, happiness is a deserved aim that yearns to graft itself onto our heart of hearts.

I have always been amazed by how much of my body operates without any conscious effort or thought on my part.  Our autonomic nervous system is responsible for our heartbeat, breath cycle, digestion and other unconscious bodily functions crucial to our survival as a species.  The source of the energy or force responsible for pumping our heart and lungs is of unknown origin…. or is it? There is still much mystery to behold and embrace in this life – and that is where the joy, bliss and excitement come in!
