Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals teaches both family home and center-based early childhood professionals about healthy meal preparation and creating a positive food environment for the children in their care. This hands-on, discussion-based training covers topics such as choosing healthy foods that appeal to kids, fostering positive mealtime environments, safe cooking with confidence, partnering with parents, and menu management on a budget. You will engage in preparing nutritious, tasty meals that meet the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
The training is free of cost to you. You will receive a manual highlighting the information covered in the training and a variety of recipes, essential kitchen tools, and 8 hours of continuing education in health, safety, and nutrition. Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals is a CDE approved training.
This training will be held at Bright Beginnings Preschool and Child Care/Maslow Academy in Montrose. For safety reasons, children are not permitted at the training. We will be engaging in lunch and snack preparation which we will enjoy as a group during the training.
