Astrological Journeys: Decoding Ancient Psychology and Medicine

Hippocrates, the Father of ancient Greek medicine, had this to say – that a physician without the knowledge of Astrology had better call himself a joker, than a physician… Nicholas Culpeper, 17th Century English herbalist and physician, insisted that trying to treat a patient without Astrology, is like attempting to lit a lamp without the oil… Finally – Carl Gustav Jung, modern Swiss psychologist, stated that what the ancient people called ‘gods’ or ‘planetary influences’ – were symbols of subconscious forces appearing in the human psyche. In this class, Astrology is presented as an ancient universal psychological and medical language that can be understood and successfully used today. Examples of traditional and contemporary interpretations of its principles will be pointed out. Ancient maps of ‘stars within us’ will be revealed. Basic metaphors, symbols and images of human nature and human condition, health and illness, as well as life cycles, processes and relationships between important biological and psychological data will be showed and explained.     About the Instructor: Margot (Sargo) Gotzmann, Ph.D. Sargo received her Ph.D. in Human Development, where she specialized in such aspects as education, culture and health.
