Jan Engels-Smith is a master of transformation. Through decades of experience as a shamanic practitioner and tenured teacher, she has integrated and then shared with her students the essence of change and well-being.
Jan’s mission is to provide excellence in shamanic education and to support personal growth for well-being by adapting ancient healing techniques to contemporary life in the 21st Century. Jan is a leading expert in the shamanic healing field, having personally performed the shamanic healing method of soul retrieval over 3500 times.
In 1994, Jan founded LightSong School of 21st Century Shamanism and Energy Medicine and has developed the first energy medicine curriculum of its kind. The accredited LightSong series of courses welcomes those with a curious interest in energy medicine through to those who would like to obtain a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in shamanism. Using shamanism and skills such as journeying, focusing the mind, self-discovery, and spiritual practices, Jan has built both a school and a vibrant, active community of healers, seekers, and well beings.
Jan has written two books: Through the Rabbit Hole: Exploring Energy and the Shamanic Journey and Becoming Yourself: The Journey from Head to Heart, which won the iUniverse Reader’s Choice Award. Jan has also produced two CDs: the shamanic drumming CD, Take Your Body With You, and Awaken~Unburden~Create, a 3-CD meditation package of shamanic principles.
Jan is a featured author in Shamanic Transformation: True Stories of the Moment of Awakening, edited by Itzhak Beery, and Shamanism in the New Millennium with best-selling authors Elizabeth Chasse and Cate Montana.
Jan writes a monthly article for the Sedona Journal of Emergence, and has been published in The Journal of Science and Healing with a case study titled, Shamanic Healing for Veterans with PTSD."
