What makes her a unique doctor is that she has a background as a personal trainer and spinning instructor who went to medical school with the sole purpose of helping her patients become healthy.
The reality of medical school is that it doesn’t teach a doctor how to obtain health for their patients but rather teaches doctors to manage disease. She has been accused of wanting only healthy patients in my practice, and that is completely true! If her patients are not healthy she is not doing her job.
She has a modern kitchen in the center of her medical practice because true health is obtained through our lifestyle choices and food is the most important change people can do to change their health.
She promotes a plant based diet and have over 30 years experience with diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications for health. She also has an extensive collection of health related resources available to her patients and customized eating plans are prescribed according to each individual patient's needs and desires. Remember this is not just about change but about long lasting lifestyle changes.
She has designed her medical practice to reflect a time when doctors knew their patients well and made decisions about their health based on that knowledge. She spends extensive time with her patients and help design a health plan based on what each patient wants. Her job is to help her patients navigate toward health.
Expertise
She is a board certified Family Practice Physician with a genetics degree from UC Davis.
She started her career in health and lifestyle medicine, as a personal trainer, and realized that she needed to take her education to the next level in order to really help her clients get healthy. She graduated from UC Davis with a degree in genetics while completing genetics research at the nationally recognized Genome Center. She continued to advance her education at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine located in the San Francisco Bay area.
Being an Osteopath has allowed her to focus on integrating many aspects of health and healing into her practice. She trained in Cranial Sacral Therapy, and currently she is the only cranial sacral therapist in the Sacramento area listed with the Cranial Academy.
She completed her family practice residency at a rural hospital in Pennsylvania. Her inpatient experience helped her realize that the problem with the health of America needs to address long before the ambulance comes into the emergency room. Many of her patients filing into hospitals have chronic health issues that could have been prevented with a doctor who can see the connection between what we feed our bodies and our overall health.
She often spends more than an hour with patients on their first visit and will take as much time as a patient needs to address all of their problems. She knows that spending time with her patients helps her determine the best plan of care. Each patient has different goals and she tailors her medical plan accordingly. Wouldn’t you like a doctor that spends time with you and finds out what is important to you?
